5-Year Winning Percentage
(1995-96 through 1999-2000)

Streaks of winning (and losing) seasons are quite common in the ECAC. Among the likely factors contributing to this are: the protracted effect of one or two consecutive dominant recruiting classes; exploitation of a strong local talent pool; natural recruiting advantages due to historical success of a program; popularity and positive reputation of a coach and his staff; and academic attractiveness of the university.

Clarkson, for example, has posted a winning record every season since 1962, while Dartmouth has been submerged under .500 since 1982. Sometimes dramatic changes do occur: St. Lawrence jumped from near the bottom to the top in the last two years.
