A Brief History
Dartmouth was the premier eastern program when the NCAA tournament began in
the late 40's. The Big Green was runner-up in back-to-back trips to the national
title game in 1948 and 1949.
Thirty years later, the Hanoverians had a resurgence, making back-to-back appearances in the ECAC title game, and finishing runner-up to UNH in 1979 and Cornell in 1980.
Twenty years after that, Dartmouth once again put together a series
of strong teams that was a serious challenger for the NCAA post-season; once
again those teams fell short. But the Green have been a factor in ECAC
RS play for nearly a decade, and their once solid identity as the league's sad
joke is gone. For now.
